Profile Information

How many/what kind of harps do you have?
One Stoney End Eve (22 string lap harp) and one 34 string Triplett Sierra. Both are walnut.
About Me:
Founding member and current president of Northern Harpsong
Admin person for this site. If you need help, ask me and I'll try to figure it out. I'm learning this stuff, too!
Harping History - or how I got started, what inspired me to play the harp?
I first saw a pedal harp (but didn't know it had pedals) at a Boston Symphony concert when I was 6 yrs. old. I couldn't convince my parents that that was the instrument for me (my sister was taking piano lessons).

I saw my first lever harp in person in the early '80's when a friend who was self-taught brought his Stoney End Lorraine to our house and played it. I was hooked. About 10 years later I bought my little Stoney End Eve and just fiddled around with it. I took a couple lessons from the friend with the Lorraine, but didn't do much with it until moving to Houlton and joining the Heavenly Harpers of Houlton and taking lessons from Nancy Harris. I bought my Triplett Sierra (34 strings) in July of 2007.

Now I'm kinda glad I didn't try the pedal harp when I was young, because I love my "little" harps and feel that I might have been overwhelmed, given up, and not gone back.

Unless someone sets their comments to be visible to "friends only", if you go to their page, you can read comments on thei… Continue
