I've only done a very little bit, but it's been a lot of fun. I've never done something for multiple harps, though, so we'll see how this goes. First, though, I need to get my hands on a copy of the music again! (Much quicker and more accurate tha...

That would be challenging, but great. I directed that with Houlton Community Chorus years ago, and with some High School choruses. The accidentals might be a killer for lever harp, can't remember for sure. Nice thing abaout arranging for 2 or 3 ha...

Interesting that you mention the SATB chorus piece... I've recently been reminiscing about Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, which I sang in All-Aroostook several years ago. I'm thinking about picking up a copy of the chorus arrangement an...

barb- IF the oct 24 gathering happens- i may bring a harpist friend. all up in the air. IF it all comes tog, would it be possible for her to stay with you overnite on fri 23? I can stay @ leigh's, but there is no room there for anyone else. This woman is a concert harpist- i have taken some lessons with her- she is wonderful. we're NOT schlepping a pedal harp- one thing at a time.
i need to go practice some. keep intouch! kate

books- i have some books which are rather beyond me, but the auburn circle uses them- perhaps you would like to review them for the Northern group:
by Nancy Hurrell- Ring of Harps and Circle of Harps- these are arrangements for solo or ensemble playing.

Somewhat easier selections are Rounds for Harp by Christina Tourin and 50 Christmas Carols for All Harps by Sylvia W.

reckon i'll warm up and take a look at Finale! kate

Harping History - or how I got started, what inspired me to play the harp?
I always heard about how my grandmother played harp at one time and I'd always been intrigued by the possibility. I just never thought it was something that i would be able to do. When attending a Heavenly Harpers Concert in December of 2006, I suddenly had the thought, "I want to do that, too. And I am going to." So with the loan of a harp, I got started the next month. Since then I have purchased my own harp and love every second of my harping life.

How to summer with a harp.....

this is in reply to Leigh's queston re summer heat and harping.......

This summer the biggest challenge here is to keep dry. but on the really hot days, a fan, a tall glass of iced peppermint water, a few fellow harpers, and I have all I need!

Any other strategies out there???

First Harp Circle for Northern Harpsong

Great pictures! Thanks Fred, for taking them and putting them on the site (Fred? Leigh? Both of you?)

It was a lot of fun and very exciting to play with all those beautiful harps. How lucky we harpers are!

Good information

Be sure to checkout the discussion on Favorite Links on the Forum page. There is a lot of good information there already. There is a quite nice one on the history of harping. Add your own harping related inks, too.
